Adams Morgan Main Street Group’s goal is to enhance our local business area and preserve its multicultural dynamism. This revitalization effort is designed to: · preserve and build on the small business and multicultural characteristics of Adams Morgan, · retain and strengthen minority employment and upward mobility in its small businesses, and · contribute to the improved appearance and promotion of Adams Morgan. Strategies include coordinated design elements and beautification, targeted promotional activities, transportation improvements, and advertising to capitalize on the area’s singular eclectic, ethnic small business vitality. Adams Morgan Main Street uses the proven, comprehensive approach of the 25 year National Main Street program. |

COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES Promotions highlight unique and traditional elements of the business area, promotes retail shopping, works with press, and informs of Main Street activities, writes and distributes neighborhood newsletters, coordinates the Adams Morgan Day Festival, press events, and grand openings. Design/Transportation address physical elements such as facades, call box restoration, re–forest projects, thematic tree grates, and bike rack installation. Developed and in process are proposals to improve access & flow, and address truck delivery, parking and taxi stands. Organization builds partnerships, raises funds, oversees financial management and budget, and recruits volunteers. Activities include planning events such as wine tastings, BowWow PowWow, and Summer Sampler. Economic Diversification strengthens and diversifies the economic base of the commercial district, assists in BID formation, hosts topical business mixers, and targets promotions aimed.
Adams Morgan Day Festival Steering Committee During the spring and summer months, we have a special steering committee for the Adams Morgan Day Festival. If you would like to volunteers to be part of this committee, please join us. We are currently seeking volunteers for 2010. |
